Their mission is to make every deployment cleaner, faster, and more predictable, and they wanted a website that reflected that same level of engineering excellence. So, they approached us with a challenge to build an online tool that lets users design their entire rack, connect ports visually, and automatically calculate cable lengths.

And honestly? It became one of the most technically ambitious WordPress builds we’ve taken on and one of the most rewarding.

We built a fully custom Cable Builder and Rack Configuration System directly inside WordPress. The challenge? Creating an interactive tool where users could design their entire server rack setup, choose equipment, connect ports, and automatically calculate exact cable lengths in real time.

Since no existing plugin could handle that complexity, we developed everything from scratch using custom JavaScript, PHP, and a fully integrated WooCommerce setup. Users start by selecting cable types, colours, and labeling formats, then visually build their rack layout. Each rack unit is dynamically rendered, allowing users to add patch panels, switches, and connect ports across racks. When two ports are linked, the system instantly calculates the cable length based on real-world rack distances and positions, displaying a visual connection and adding it to a summary list with pricing and specs.

Once the configuration is complete, the tool generates a detailed cable list that syncs directly to WooCommerce for seamless ordering. The result is a professional-grade, engineering-level interface that combines visual rack design, real-time calculations, and e-commerce integration, all within WordPress.
