Recently Google has confirmed that it is going to roll out an update to Mobile Search results in May, 2016.
The #Mobilegeddong that is considered to be Google’s upcoming update is going to increase the effect of its mobile-friendly ranking signal. The goal is to “help the users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly.”
The Webpage is deemed as “mobile-friendly” when it meets the following criteria as detected in real time by Googlebot:
- Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
- Uses text that is readable without zooming
- Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
- Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped
If your site hasn’t been updated yet, moreover you and your business are not interested in having (SEO) optimized and mobile-friendly website, and perhaps your website doesn’t need mobile search traffic, no matter, do that, for still you have many reasons why. Improving your mobile site’s performance definitely can’t hurt — your users will definitely appreciate it.
And be sure, Google will also appreciate this step and you won’t be affected by the update.
